Ritchie Bros.

Financial infrastructure on Stripe

ThoughtWorks · Principal, Digital Commerce and Finance SME · 2022 to 2023

Ritchie Bros. moves heavy equipment across borders: a seller in France, a yard in Germany, a buyer in the UK, settled in more than one currency. I architected the financial stack for the RB 2.0 program: Stripe Payments, Connect, Billing, Invoicing and Revenue Recognition for ASC 606 compliance, Sigma feeding every transaction to Oracle as the ledger, and Avalara as the end-to-end tax platform. The design covered split and partial payments, escrow funding, multi-currency settlement and automated consignor payouts. Leadership approved both vendors into contracting in August 2022, and the stack was implemented in 2023.

Gucci

Composable commerce to retire on-premises SAP Hybris

ThoughtWorks · Strategy, enterprise architecture and execution lead · ThoughtWorks, about six months

Gucci's commerce ran on an on-premises SAP Hybris platform that slowed every change. I led the architecture, the roadmap and the execution of the move to a composable, microservices-based stack built around Commerce Layer, working on site in Milan two weeks on and two weeks off for about six months.

SUEZ Water Technologies & Solutions

A $600M B2B business moved to self-service

SUEZ · Senior Director, Digital Technologies · 2019 to 2021

I owned the global digital platform for a $3.5B water technology company and migrated its $600M B2B business from a heavily customized legacy Salesforce B2B Commerce build to Adobe Commerce 2.4. Customers gained self-service for orders, invoices, shipments, payments and service requests, and the business case saved $400K a year in operating cost.

Church & Dwight

Commerce platform consolidation

Church & Dwight · eCommerce lead · 2018 to 2019

I consolidated more than 60 integrations, platforms and vendors into 12, migrated the brand sites to Magento 2, and raised development efficiency 162% with a team of three onshore and offshore engineers.

Earlier work

  • Burlington Stores: moved eCommerce warehouse operations to a third-party logistics provider, transferring about 650K inventory units ($8.2M) during a live cutover.
  • Acumen Solutions and RafterOne: built Salesforce accelerators for CPQ, Billing, B2B Commerce and marketplaces.
